Does the term “serial entrepreneur” annoy you or do you view it as a badge of honor?
Maybe 10 years ago, when I started in digital marketing, I would have been proud to call myself a serial entrepreneur.
However, over the last decade, the term seems to have taken on a slightly negative connotation (someone who may start a lot of projects but not finish them or someone who really isn’t an entrepreneur broadly appropriating the term).
I love the term IH, but I was curious to hear what your thoughts are on the term serial entrepreneur?
I am annoyed by the term "entrepreneur" in general because it's been watered down so much. Is a small town business owner an entrepreneur just because they own a shop? I say no.
I want to go out and create businesses but I won't call myself an entrepreneur even after I succeed - which I haven't yet. Still working out what to call myself
What's your logic? A literal entrepreneur is "a person who organizes and operates a business or businesses"
To me, entrepreneurship involves higher levels of risk and innovation than traditional business. An entrepreneur is someone who sees an opportunity where others don't. Remember that this is just my opinion but as an example, I don't think everyone who opens a car repair shop is an entrepreneur. But I would say that someone who opens a car repair shop staffed entirely by robots is an entrepreneur.
It is unnecessary IMHO. "entrepreneur" doesn't mean you only started one company.
totally agree... the term has been bastardized by a ton of powerpoint entrepreneurs using it too often
