Feedback: I've just launched a condo administration system
Hi guys,
There's not a lot of rocket science on what I'm doing. I spotted a problem when I realized our neighbors what's app chat group was literally going crazy. I live in a condo of 38 houses in Mexico where we share some amenities such as the swimming pool and a 24/7 security staff (this is very common in Latin America).
In order to organize and manage our conversations between neighbors, I created a ranking website using WordPress where users can upvote (Product Hunt / Indie Hacker / Reddit style) the most important topics and create new ones.
Here's the website structure:
- Home > Recent Topics (up votable) + Nearby services (food delivery, home improvement, etc.)
- Announcements > All the official announcements made by the company in charge of the condo administration.
- Finance > We pay a monthly fee for all the services. Here you can check who's late on his payments (made through * Google Sheets embed integration).
- Events > If you're hosting an event and need to reserve the common area, there's a reservation system I made using Google Calendar.
- Neighbors regulation.
- Contact
I did this website for free but I'm pretty sure there's some potential on it. I've also thought about a different business model, where I could charge nearby services an annual/monthly fee for appearing on the website(s) directory.

One module that would be great would be a place to recommend local services that you have used and had a good experience with (plumbers, electricians, car mechanics, etc) It is always great to have a referral from a neighbor.
Great idea Jeff!! I already added nearby services on the home but I see the difference if neighbors can upload local services they used. The thing is, I was thinking on charging local services for appearing on the website. Probably a good idea would be to give the possibility for neighbours to upload a local service for free and offer a sort of "Info Card" and Top positions (basically an AdWords system) for local service willing to pay a monthly/annual fee. I noticed the space for Ads, you could think of packaging it as plugin that apartment owners could quickly install. But I suggest building it in a separate platform Laravel/CodeIgniter or even keep in WP and use multisites. You could then charge for microsites xyzapartment.condotech.com
Awesome feedback man! Yeah there's a space for Ads that was coming with the Theme. The idea of selling it as a Plugin is great!! Unfortunately, I' m not a coder so it's almost out of my hands. I was thinking on 2 business models to monetize this:
There's actually a 3rd option of an hybrid model combining these 2 options. Let me know what you think. What is for you the best business model?

There is potential for sites like this. Nextdoor is pretty huge and basically the same thing. The problem is they become cesspits of community infighting very quickly. Solving that is the real problem that you should focus on if you want to beat them.
Thanks for the feedback Shawn! I agree, you should see how incendiary our what's app group chat is. What's great about wordpress (and the WPDiscuz plugin I'm using for comments) is that you can moderate conversations, close a thread and pin a conversation to the top: http://prntscr.com/luj3ss I think only human moderation is the solution for this.
