Feel more connected to your family’s culture through daily engagement

My app Talo, started out as just a very basic learning tool for me to learn a little Samoan. I had recently married my wife Lina who is Polynesian and we also just had my daughter Jade. Since I was a developer and was learning how to program with Go and do mobile development, I thought building a basic app for me to learn Samoan language just a little everyday, would be a good project to practice my skills and solve a problem.

Talo quickly showed value in my life as I could consistently learn about my family’s culture. I wanted to continue to grow and make it usable for others with relatable situations. Now Talo is a full scale application that helps people with mixed culture families or are 2nd generation immigrants feel more connected to their cultures through daily engagement.

Talo helps the platform’s audience feel more connected to their cultures through simple daily learning tasks, audio stories, and social features to find and engage with others with a similar background.

Language is a core element of a culture, but it isn’t everything. While there are multiple apps to help learn a language, Talo strives to immerse you in all aspects.
