Feeling like leaving a mark in this world?
Does anyone think that, with your startup gig, you want to leave behind a positive contribution that will be a part of history in technology?
Just sending out feelers out there to see if there are other people who follow the same kind of path as me
I want to leave a mark on the world, but not in the same way.
I'm from a linguistic minority (Acadian, French-speakers in eastern Canada) and I want to make a successful startup so I can show other Acadians that it's possible for someone from our region to do create value without being from "the big city".
My core motivation is twofold: be the kind of person I would have loved to look up to when I was a teen, help lay the foundation so that my kid can feel empowered to dream big.
This is my long-term goal for sure, but I don't feel like the products I have built can accomplish it. They give me a stable income, so I can't complain about it, but they are not the kind of product that can leave a mark.
A major pro is that they are pretty passive, so I can (and always do) spend time on other projects.
Being honest, I believe that's the best strategy: building a form of stable income so that you are worried about money. It's a lot easier to do than to build a business around a world-changing idea.
In my case, I have to say that it wasn't a strategy.
