Find Lead Gen Opportunities in a Google Sheet

I was playing around with google sheets to set up a sales CRM and came up with a simple solution. was hesitant to post initially since this may look basic for many excel/google sheet users. But hoping there are many others who'll benefit.

Problem: Most Indie entrepreneurs or freelancers are not effective in recognizing potential lead gen opportunities online. There are multiple tools and too little time.

Solution: A simple google sheet that tracks and organizes important data and updates in real-time(almost). aka, social/online listening.

Product: Bit sized videos (altogether ~20 minutes) on setting up this spreadsheet. Along with the sheet template. Priced under 10$.

Sneak Peak

I took a web designer who wants to track opportunities as an example for this one. But this setup can apply to almost anyone running an online related business.

a. Job Openings ( can be used to find freelance work/pitch saas)

b. Funding News: (to find companies with money and problems to solve)

c. Tweet Mentions: (to jump into conversations around your expertise)

d. Competitor Product Reviews: (to know what customers love/hate)

and a few others like tracking website changes, guest post opportunities etc. Is there anything else you would like to see?

The data isn't precise always (for example, if TechCrunch tags some other articles under the 'funding' tag, these might pop up). Also, your favorite sites might not support accessing data from them. But overall it's good enough to fetch stuff you don't want to miss.

The basic setup is mostly free (using RSS tools and importFEED function), although you can integrate with tools like zapier or addons like hunter.io to make it more powerful.

I'm not a sheet expert, but combining some sales understanding with basic sheet skills. What do you think?
