Finished 4 Hour Work Week - need advice finding "muse"

Hello IndieHackers!

I finished 4 Hour Week work for the second time in my life. The first time I was young and had no marketable skills. Now I'm older, a professional web developer and have enough saved to make a go at "something". Trouble is, I'm not sure what "something" IS.

4HWW is all based on a business or idea that one can use the techniques outlined to live a lifestyle. The only trouble is I have no business or idea. The chapter on finding a "muse" is somewhat light.

My question to ya'll is where to start with this step of the process?

Bottom line is I'm an engineer with no ideas.

Dave, try to solve a problem you have in your life. This was key for me to unlock a lot of ideas. It's easy to miss if you dont pay attention, so think about every interaction you have during the day at work, with businesses, people, products, services... ask more questions and try to identify problems you could solve... maybe it's automating something, maybe it's writing a book, an app, or improving something... whatever it takes to solve a problem you have. What do you hate? What do you love? Good luck!

I'm a web developer and have read this book too. I think the whole idea is that it should be something you love and are good at. I enjoy using React so I started messing around with React Native. I'm also quite creative and love video games so I have a trello board full of App/Video game ideas. So at the moment I'm building an app in the Trivia category. I've always loved video games so that specific area is more appealing to me that something like finance or marketing (although the marketing thing may change when I learn more and identify a gap).

    What do you enjoy doing?

"With his career on the skids, a Hollywood screenwriter enlists the aid of a modern-day muse, who proves to test his patience."
