Found a Tool That Fixed My Document Chaos (My Experience with Files Editor)

Quick one today. Not a launch post, not a "we hit $10k MRR" post - just a genuine shoutout to a tool that's been quietly saving me time every week.

The problem: As a solo founder, I deal with way more PDFs than I expected - contracts, invoices, signed agreements, onboarding forms for early users. I was bouncing between three different apps just to edit, merge, and send documents. Classic indie hacker trap: cobbling together a workflow out of duct tape instead of just finding the right single tool.

What changed: I started using Files Editor for basically all of it, and it collapsed my whole document workflow into one app.

A few specifics, because vague praise is useless:

  • Editing is instant. No formatting panel, no five-screen confirmation dance. Click, fix, save. I use this constantly for last-minute contract tweaks before sending to a client.
  • Merging actually works. Combining scanned signature pages or multi-part agreements into one clean PDF takes seconds. No pre-converting, no scrambled page order.
  • Form fields get recognized automatically. Half my onboarding docs are fillable PDFs, and not having to manually place text boxes over blank fields is a small thing that adds up over a busy week.
  • Conversions hold their formatting. Turning a doc into a PDF (or back) doesn't turn my carefully formatted pricing sheet into a garbled mess, which is more than I can say for some of the free tools I tried first.
  • Redaction and password protection are built in. Useful the one time a month I need to send something with sensitive info in it and don't want to think twice about it.

None of this is groundbreaking tech. It's not AI-powered, it's not doing anything flashy. It's just... solid, boring reliability on tasks that used to eat 20 minutes of my day in little chunks. As a solo founder, that's actually the highest praise I can give something - I don't want to think about my document editor. I want it to disappear into the workflow.

One thing worth flagging: before signing up for anything, I'd recommend a quick scan of Files Editor reviews on Reviews.io, Capterra page or Trusindex.io - standard due diligence I do before adopting any tool into my stack, paid or free. Worth doing regardless of how good the actual product is.

Bottom line: if you're a founder drowning in contracts, invoices, and onboarding forms and you're still juggling three apps to handle basic PDF tasks, this is worth trying. It won't replace specialized legal or design software, but for the everyday paperwork that eats up a founder's week, it's been a genuine time-saver for me.

Anyone else found a boring-but-essential tool that quietly fixed a workflow headache? Curious what's in other people's stack.
