I built Lift5x5 because every beginner lifting program comes down to the same thing — show up, lift a little more than last time, and don't overthink it. But most apps either bury that simplicity under a thousand features, or charge for the basics.
Lift5x5 does one thing well: it tells you exactly what to lift every session. Hit your reps? It adds weight next time. Stall three times? It deloads you automatically. No spreadsheets, no guessing, no math between sets — the plate calculator shows you what to load.
It's free with no ads. There's an optional Pro tier for advanced programs and coaching, but the whole 5x5 program is free forever.
A few things I'd love feedback on:
• The automatic progression — does it feel right, or too aggressive/cautious?
• The new free tools (strength-standards + 1RM + plate calculators): https://lift5x5.app/tools
Happy to answer anything about the build (Expo / React Native / PocketBase). Thanks for
checking it out 🙏
One thing I'd be curious about:
How do you think about the point where "don't overthink it" stops feeling helpful and starts feeling limiting?
The simplicity is obviously part of the appeal.
I'm just not sure every stall or deviation means the user wants less control rather than more.
