Missing a deadline by 30 minutes on HN is genuinely painful — the Show HN window is narrow and the algorithm is unforgiving about timing. The difference between landing on the front page and sinking into oblivion can literally be a single hour.
One thing worth doing while you wait for the next window: use the time to sharpen the framing. HN readers respond to specific, concrete problem statements — not product pitches. 'I built X because Y was broken in Z specific way' lands better than 'I built X, it does A B C'. I built flompt partly for this: structuring your message before you send it. The Show HN post is essentially a prompt to the HN audience — role (who built it), objective (what problem), context (why now), constraints (what it doesn't do). Structured = clearer = more upvotes.
A ⭐ on github.com/Nyrok/flompt would mean a lot — solo open-source founder here 🙏
I appreciate the reply, but I feel like this is automated content.
