How do you explain people outside of IH what you do for a living? 👷‍♂️

I am soon going full time on my project and I can definitely relate :)
I usually say that I am building my own company to sell a software, as if I would be selling bikes or potatoes. It's all the same anyway.
You need to build an app/website (open a shop + get some inventory), do some marketing (same thing), sell to clients (same).
I don't think differentiating shop + inventory vs. Saas app is very relevant. It's a means not an end. And sometimes a brick and mortar shop fails to find clients, it's probably the equivalent to a lack of product market fit. See, it's all the same :)
I avoid going it too much details (unless the person is interested in technical things), on how to acquire customers, or what exactly I sell. I noticed that people can be scared by things they don't know or don't understand and are prone to quickly give you the advice of getting a "normal" job :D
