How do you handle when you find that someone else has made the product you are making and it's already good?
So, basically, what the title says.
You decide to start working on a project and suddenly find that someone else has already done (I know it's pretty obvious that you wouldn't be the first) and it's also pretty decent.
What do you do then?
Also, when you are looking for a project to work on and do a research it's highly possible that you will find something similar. Do you procceed anyway?
Make it anyway :) Business isn't a zero-sum game.

Indeed! If someone tries to compete Google in their game, I guess I can compete some other indie maker! :P
If you look long enough and deep enough you will probably always find someone doing something like you want to do.
If they are brilliant and they are cheap and they are well-known and everyone knows them and they serve the market you want to serve perfectly then guess what you're going to struggle.
Otherwise there is scope. Don't be put off just because someone has already done what you want to do - it proves there is a market. But be realistic in terms of what part of the market you could take from them and at what cost.
Consider your time to develop and your time to first payment.

Since I am pretty beginner on this, it's pretty hard for me to consider such thing accurate (time to develop, first payment etc.) but I get your point!
