I am currently at a stage where I have a dev/data/design team of 10. I have grown my team mainly through referrals from the same dev team. I do a remote technical test and give them a week to solve it. Also a small interview.
I am now doing a few experiments to see if I can find standardized variables that have predictive power against performance. Currently testing: personality traits (16PF Meyer-Briggs) and types of intelligence (as measured by IQ tests, Terman Merril).
Do you have any suggestions as to what other tests I can do to my team (myself included) that might produce variables of this sort?.
The goal of all this is:
The idea is to find tests that can provide predictive power and apply them to candidates.
Any ideas, suggestions, how are you guys doing this?
Three basic things have worked out well for me so far:
referrals
test days/weeks (with the team working on a real project, paid)
'the long-haul test' (would you be happy to spend a long-haul flight sitting next to them?)
None of that is exactly rocket-science. I haven't seen any other ideas which stood out to me as being particularly successful, however. Would be interested to hear of any!
Thanks!

Thanks, great read. We already do some technical tests in a similar way. We do have to work on standarization.
