I built a 100% offline PDF & photo utility app after worrying about data privacy. Here’s what I learned.
A while ago, I needed to merge a few PDFs and compress document photos. Like most people, I searched online and found plenty of web tools. But as I was about to drag and drop my personal documents, a thought hit me: Why am I uploading sensitive personal files, passports, and IDs to random third-party servers just for simple compression?
That privacy concern inspired me to build DocTools: PDF & Photo Tools, which I launched on Android in late 2025.
