Hey IH 👋
I've shipped a few projects over the years, but answer4me.online is genuinely my favourite build yet, and I wanted to share it here.
The problem
Every phone call is an interruption, even the ones you're expecting. If you're a freelancer, a tradesperson or running a small business, you've felt this: you're mid-task, the phone rings, and you either break your focus or miss the call. And voicemail doesn't really fix it. Half of callers hang up, and the other half leave a message that says "call me back" with no context.
I wanted something that handles the call the way a good PA would.
What answer4me does
answer4me is available in the UK, USA and Canada, with a local number in your country and British, American or Canadian English to match your callers.
When you can't pick up, your AI receptionist answers. It talks to the caller naturally (no "press 1 for..." menus), finds out who they are and what they want, asks whether it's urgent, and then sends you a summary by SMS or email within about 30 seconds of the call ending.
A few features I'm particularly proud of:
Spam screening: sales calls and robocallers get politely turned away, so only real messages reach you.
Urgency detection: every call gets tagged, so you know what to deal with first.
VIP live connect: if someone important calls with something urgent (your kid's school, a key client), the AI rings you and lets you press 1 to connect straight through.
Calendar booking: on Pro and above, the AI can check your Google Calendar and book appointments while the caller is still on the line. The AI cannot see the content of your diary so there is no chance of details of confidential meetings being leaked. It can only see if you are free or not.
Keeping setup ridiculously simple
This was a big focus. No app to install and no onboarding calls. You sign up, pick a personality for your AI (friendly, professional or enthusiastic), get a local number, and set call forwarding on your phone. It takes about two minutes and works with iPhone, Android and landlines.
Pricing
Starter: £9/month (60 mins)
Pro: £19/month (200 mins, VIP live connect, calendar booking, 4 voices to choose from)
Business: £39/month (500 mins, custom greeting, analytics, priority support, 8 voices to choose from)
Every plan starts with 5 free calls, no card required.
Why it's my favourite
Most things I've built live on a screen. This one lives in real conversations, and hearing it handle a real call for the first time, asking the right follow-up question and sending a clean summary, was a proper "oh, this actually works" moment. It solves a problem I have myself every single day.
I'd love your feedback
If you're in the UK, USA or Canada and get calls you can't always answer, give it a try with the 5 free calls: https://answer4me.online
I'm especially keen to hear:
Does the pricing feel right for freelancers and small businesses?
Which feature would make you switch from voicemail?
Anything that would stop you from using it?
Thanks for reading, happy to answer any questions in the comments 🙏
Interesting. How are you measuring whether it is working?
Most people are converting from the 5 trial calls to paid so that is a success … so far
Appreciate the honesty here, most people only share the wins.
Solid lesson. Which channel has worked best for you so far?
Word of mouth is surprisingly strong - professionals who know professionals etc
Thanks for writing this up. Bookmarking it for later.
Helpful post. How did you get your first bit of traction?
I have an AI business helping financial services firms build solutions for them and the idea came from the demand there
The VIP live connect is a nice touch, and free/busy-only calendar access is the right default. One thing to plan for: more of your callers will soon be agents rather than people. The errands section of shipwithmuse.live has a Muse user whose agent phoned five Tesla stores at once to find a car on the lot. A receptionist that recognises an agent caller and answers crisply (availability, price, yes/no) could be a feature rather than a spam case. (I help curate it)
Thanks for the feedback- i think the enterprise layer certainly has the ability to expand in more bespoke ways
Really solid approach — curious how you're thinking about this, what's been the hardest part to figure out so far?
making the UX as simple as possible has been the hardest challenge but i have tested it and it really is 2 minutes and super simple so I am really pleased with it. thanks for your comment.
