I spent way too long swiping, matching, and then discovering three messages in that we had totally different values, attachment styles, and life pace. The photos never showed any of that.
So I built SoulCode: you answer a set of questions, and the app generates a 14-dimensional personality signature called your Soul Code. Then you can explore compatibility two ways: invite someone you already know to generate theirs and compare, or browse the Discover feed to meet new people across 150+ listed countries — and see an explainable compatibility breakdown with each person: not just a number, but why you resonate and where you might clash.
What makes it different from personality tests or dating apps:
→ It's not a quiz result you screenshot. It's a living card that feeds into real matching.
→ Free tier gives you the compatibility score + a brief explanation. Premium unlocks full dimension details across personality, attachment, values, and interests.
→ Mutual interest unlocks private chat. No swiping, no browsing strangers.
→ Privacy-first: report, block, delete account, 18+ only, dual-consent chat.
Stack: React Native + Expo, Supabase, RevenueCat.

Launching on Product Hunt tomorrow (Aug 12): https://www.producthunt.com/products/soulcode?launch=soulcode
Would love honest feedback — especially on whether the compatibility explanation screen actually feels useful, or if it's too much information. That's the piece I'm most unsure about.
The “why you resonate and where you might clash” breakdown is the bit that makes this feel different from another personality quiz. SoulCode feels like it could be pulling in a lot more organic traffic than it probably is right now, especially with the Product Hunt launch happening tomorrow. That early attention could be really useful for seeing whether people actually care about the explanation. Have you noticed which part of the breakdown people react to most?
honestly? too early to say. We literally launched today so i don't have enough real usage data yet to have a unbiased answer. My hunch is people will care most about the "friction" part because most compatibility tools only show you the good stuff. But I wanna see what actually happens once real users start comparing. that's exactly why i'm hoping the PH launch pulls in enough people to get a real read on it.
Since you’re still waiting for enough real usage data, I’d try to extend the Product Hunt launch with targeted media placements rather than relying on the launch spike alone.
Getting SoulCode featured in relevant publications could bring more targeted users into the product, which gives you a better sample to test whether the “friction” explanation actually resonates. At the same time, those placements can build brand awareness, authority, trust and a Featured In footprint you can keep using beyond the launch.
I work on this side and already have a few ideas for SoulCode specifically. If you’re interested, feel free to reach out at mumar@growwithmumar.online and I can share them.
The “no swiping, compatibility-first” angle is interesting.
With a dating app though, I’m curious how you’re thinking about the cold-start problem, especially getting enough people in the same location/niche for Discover to feel useful.
Are you planning to focus on one market first, or go global from day one?
Yeah the cold start thing is real haha. It is kind of hard. So we actually went global from day one, we are covering over 150+ countries. The reason is that soulcode isn't just for dating, people use it with friends, coworkers, even family. so the first users don't need a local match pool to get value, they just invite someone they already know and compare. Hope this will keep them around while we build up the discover side. And for discover, we're not doing location-only matching. So even if there's not 10,000 people in your city yet, you can still find someone interesting in another country and chat, we want soulcode to be a way to meet people and see the world through someone else's eyes, not just a local dating thing.
The explanation screen seems like an interesting test because it could be doing more than improving the UX — it might determine what people actually value in the product. What are you watching for to tell whether users care most about understanding their compatibility or actually finding someone they want to connect with?
Great question honestly. right now what i'm seeing is people care about both but at different stages. Like when they first generate their soul code they're super into the explanation part: they wanna see if the app actually "gets" them, but once they trust the breakdown, they shift to wanting to find people. I'm mostly watching retention after the first compatibility check. if someone reads the full explanation and then sends a match request, that tells me way more than just a swipe.
That progression is interesting — the explanation seems to earn trust before the matching behavior kicks in. I’d be curious to hear what you learn as that cohort gets larger. What’s the best email to reach you at?
Yeah exactly — the explanation screen is basically the trust gate before people invest in the matching flow. Right now the early signal I'm seeing is that people who read the full compatibility breakdown convert to sending a match request at way higher rates than people who just see the score. Would love to share more as the cohort grows.

Thanks for the thoughtful question!
Thanks! I’ve just sent it over.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts whenever you have a chance.
