I hit the “no distribution” wall building my SaaS… so I’m building something to fix it

I’ve been building a SaaS called SoloBoss for freelancers. The product worked. People who used it liked it. But I kept running into the same problem every founder talks about quietly, no consistent distribution. I tried everything. Posting on X, Launching on Product Hunt, Reddit (got banned) Paid ads (burned money) Each one gave a spike then nothing, back to zero. Most of us aren’t failing at product, we’re failing at getting in front of people consistently. So I started looking at what actually compounds. Not social, not ads, search SEO for a small SaaS is brutal It takes months, requires content nonstop and you’re competing with high-authority domains. So I started building something for myself. A platform where you submit your SaaS once, and it generates pages like “[Your tool] vs competitors” “Best alternatives to [competitor]” “Top tools in [category]” The idea is simple, instead of trying to “create content,” you just show up where buyers are already searching. The twist is all of these pages live on one domain (think Zapier). Instead of every founder starting from zero, the authority compounds across everyone. Still early (pre-launch), but I’m curious, would you trust a platform like this to drive your SEO instead of building it yourself? Or is “owning your own domain” too important? Would genuinely appreciate feedback especially from anyone who’s struggled with SaaS distribution.

I like the distribution problem you’re tackling, but I’d still want the core SEO assets to live on my own domain. A shared high-authority domain could be great for discovery, especially early on, but ideally it should complement rather than replace owned content. The most interesting metric for me would be whether those pages send qualified visitors who actually activate, not just whether they rank.

I hear you, distribution is such a common struggle for founders. I actually know a few solo SaaS founders who have really struggled with distribution and I bet they'd be happy to answer your questions for free.

"Jay, the 'Zapier-style' compound authority model is actually a very smart fix for the SEO distribution wall. Most founders under-invest in 'vs' pages, but they are high-intent.
Regarding your question: many would trade 'domain ownership' for 'actual traffic' any day. I’ve seen this work for directories.
On a side note, since you're tackling the distribution problem, I have a high-leverage idea for SoloBoss involving a Tokyo-connected project we're running. I’ll shoot you a DM/Note so I don't hijack your feedback thread!"

Thank you. I agree, I am at 23% conversion three days in on the waitlist, which is a promising development. I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks Jay! Glad the distribution angle resonated and great to see 23% conversion already.

I'll prepare a short note on the Tokyo-connected SoloBoss idea shortly.
