I just launched PlanEat AI on Product Hunt to help busy people eat better

Today I launched PlanEat AI, an iOS app that builds fully personalized weekly meal plans with a smart grocery list so you do not have to think about food decisions every day.

The problem I am trying to solve is simple

Most people who want to eat healthier do not struggle with nutrition information. They struggle with the daily friction

  • what do I cook today
  • how do I keep it sustainable
  • what do I buy for the week

I kept repeating the same loop

  1. Get motivated to eat better
  2. Save a bunch of recipes from Instagram and TikTok
  3. Spend hours planning and shopping
  4. Burn out in a week and go back to random meals and delivery

Existing tools did not work well for my real life

  • ChatGPT does not keep long term context and does not sync with a grocery list
  • classic trackers focus on numbers more than on making everyday cooking easier
  • many meal apps feel generic and assume you are fine with almost any ingredient and long recipes

So I built PlanEat AI with a different focus

  • weekly plan based on goals, dislikes, available time and basic equipment
  • simple step by step recipes with normal products from a regular grocery store
  • a grouped grocery list that stays in sync with the plan
  • quick swaps of meals with automatic list updates

This week I also got my first paid yearly subscriber

59 dollars from a stranger who decided it was worth committing for a year. That was a good sign that the problem resonates outside of my own head.

I still have open questions

  • how strict should the app be about nutrition vs how forgiving it should be for real life
  • how much control should I give without turning it into another planning chore
  • how to explain the value in a few seconds to someone who is tired and hungry

Today I put PlanEat AI on Product Hunt to get more feedback from non technical users and see how people react to the concept in the wild.

If the idea interests you and you want to see how I present it to a broader audience, here is the Product Hunt page

I would love any feedback from the Indie Hackers community

  • does the positioning make sense
  • what feels missing from the product idea
  • what would make a tool like this a clear yes for you personally

Happy to answer questions about the product, the tech behind it, or the launch process.
