I started working on Kitchen Sync (name not final) because my partner and I kept falling back on the same handful of meals every week. By the time we hit the end of a full work week, with our two incredible (but exhausting) toddlers, there was just no mental energy left for meal planning or getting creative in the kitchen.
I love cooking. I do not love planning.
Recipes were scattered across screenshots, bookmarked blogs, notes apps, whats app messages, and videos. Even when we cooked something really good, it would usually be forgotten a few weeks later and we’d default back to the same “safe” meals because it was faster.
Kitchen Sync is an early beta of a small web app I’m building to solve this for our own household. It’s intentionally simple right now: one place to collect and tweak recipes, plan meals, and generate shopping lists so recipes feels easier to reuse, not just discover.
It’s completely free at the moment and very much in a feedback phase.
I’m not trying to build a recipe discovery platform, the focus is reuse, rotation, and reducing the friction around weekly planning and shopping.
Before I take this any further, I’m trying to sanity-check whether this is a real problem other people struggle with in the same way.
I’d really appreciate blunt feedback on:
If anyone would like to try it, the link is here: https://www.kitchen-sync-app.com/
But honestly, any comments or advice you have for a new IH would be amazing.
If you have read this far, thank you. I am building this app for my family, not just to help with our meals, but to help drive us to a better future,. Since having my children I feel a drive to create a better life for them. Im sure there are plenty of Indie Hackers on here who feel the same. Maybe its not this app or the next, but one day I will work on an idea that will change our lives. I believe that.
Wish me luck. This journey is all for my beautiful family.
