Hey Indie Hackers 👋
I’ve been building MatraBloom, a postpartum recovery companion designed to help mothers take care of themselves during the first year after childbirth.
The idea came from noticing something that felt strange about the postpartum experience: there’s an enormous amount of attention on the baby, but the mother’s own recovery can become an afterthought.
And recovery isn’t just about “getting your body back.”
It can be finding 5 minutes to move when you’re exhausted.
Understanding what your body may be going through.
Feeling like you’re allowed to take care of yourself.
Having something that doesn’t make recovery feel like another task on an already overwhelming to-do list.
So I’m building MatraBloom around small, practical steps for postpartum recovery rather than trying to turn it into another pregnancy or baby-tracking app.
The MVP is now built as a native Android app, with personalized onboarding, recovery guidance, daily experiences, and gentle postpartum workouts.
I’m currently working on the next phase: getting the product in front of real moms and learning what actually helps them.
The biggest challenge right now isn't building the software.
It’s finding the right audience and figuring out how to reach moms organically without turning every interaction into a sales pitch.
I’m experimenting with Threads, Instagram, Pinterest, TikTok, SEO, and communities while keeping the marketing budget at essentially $0.
I'd love to hear from other Indie Hackers:
How did you find your first users for a product targeting a very specific audience?
Did you focus on one community/channel first or experiment across several?
What worked for you when you had almost no marketing budget?
How did you collect useful feedback without overwhelming early users?
I'm still very early, so I'm treating this as a learning process rather than pretending I have everything figured out.

Would especially love to hear from anyone who's built a consumer product where trust and relatability matter more than traditional SaaS-style acquisition.
