I’m building Text Message to Song: turn DMs and group chats into AI songs
I’m building Text Message to Song, a small AI music tool for turning copied chats into songs.
The idea came from a simple pattern I kept seeing: funny DMs, awkward group chats, ex texts, and family messages often already have the emotion and story of a song. But turning that into music usually means opening a generic AI music tool and figuring out the prompt yourself.
Text Message to Song is focused on one workflow:
1. Paste a chat, DM, iMessage, group chat, or story
2. Pick a vibe like pop punk, R&B drama, gospel meme, rap hook, or acoustic sad
3. Generate a song with lyrics, vocals, and a catchy hook
4. Use it for TikTok, Reels, Shorts, or just share it with friends
I’m keeping the product narrow on purpose. It is not trying to be a full music studio. It is meant to make one funny or emotional chat moment easy to turn into a song.
I’m still early and would like feedback from other builders: would you position this more as an AI music tool, a meme/social content tool, or a consumer entertainment product?
The part I'd be most nervous about isn't whether people can turn messages into songs.
It's whether the first thing they enjoy is the same thing they come back for.
Those can look very similar early on, especially in products built around novelty.
I'd pay close attention to what people generate a second and third time, not just what gets their first reaction.
