Hello IH,
I see myself more like a product person, but as a solo founder I am trying to learn more about the biz and marketing side. Any idea or tip in that regard would help me greatly.
Here's the link to the landing page:
https://www.cast.watch
Thanks!
Best,
Jose
Hey fellow IndieHackers @nitinkarma @stan121 @Madamdo @alexhillman @swamyg @Ryan217 @AndrewV,
So I've taken all your feedback into account and gave it a second shot, would love it if you could check it out and let me know your thoughts one more time.
https://www.cast.watch
Thanks, I really appreciate you taking the time!
Best,
José
I think you nailed it! For me personally, it is ULTRA clear even for a person who has no interest/knowledge in the field!
P.S. Totally unrelated, but I will be curious to follow the journey of Castwatch. Are you planning to add it here as a product and post some updates for it? :)
Hey @stan121 thanks!
Yes, I already added it actually, but it has this "3 updates/posts" requirement, so I'll just add those when it makes sense to share with the community, hopefully soon.
If you don't forget, notify me once it's ready to be followed :)
I won't forget, will do!
I'd decrease the line height and font size of the main headline. The email input is being overlapped by the white ridges/triangles (max just need a z-index update).
The new sub-header's perfect 👍
Thanks and great catch @Ryan217! Mind me asking what device were you on or what resolution?
Chrome, 13in MacBook Pro 13.3-inch (2560 x 1600)
Thanks @Ryan217!
I had a second look and the focus and target audience is now much clearer.
I like the direct question at the beginning. Though I wondered if that's your unique selling point. Your mention it several times in the describe. What about keeping track of all the conversations with the users? I imagined that's also a very important feature, or isn't it? If so, maybe stress that too a bit more. The way it reads right now does not highlight this feature eough, imo.
But overall, very cool!
Thanks for checking it out a second time @Madamdo, so you mean something like "Keep record of your interaction with subscribers, send direct messages, newsletters, surveys..." as a subheader?
Nice!
I'm curious, does this actually integrate with our youtube subscribers, or is this essentially a landing page/lead capture/CRM?
I'd also love to see an actual live example of it in action (even if it's not a youtube channel I'm familiar with). What are my subscribers going to see?
Sadly YouTube is super tight when it comes to providing access to subscribers profile details, and it will probably only get worse after what happened with Google+.
So, yes, that's what the landing pages are for essentially, they act as a funnel to onboard the subs to the "CRM" component of the platform, with the added value for channels that they can also share their social media, and link to other platforms like SoundCloud, iTunes, etc.
Here's a sample of the landing page:
https://www.cast.watch/castwatch/subscribe
You can also show add an intro video if you want.
Thanks!
With exactly what you said in mind, if I were a youtube creator I'd care a LOT more about the fact that you give me the ability to OWN my subscribers (and ability to reach them) than surveying them to find out what they want.
The former is a direct impact on my business. The latter, not so much.
That's a very very good take that I hadn't seen before, especially with YouTube's forever-changing monetization policies, if they wanted to drop YouTube completely it would mean pretty much starting from zero, this would solve that.
I work as an Android Engineer in my 9-to-5 and being banned by Google from the Play Store is one of the scariest things that can happen to you, there are so many nightmare stories out there.
Great landing page!
Here's my feedback:
Other than that, this page looks like a conversion machine!
Good luck with your product. ✨
Hey Kerem, thanks for checking it out!
I agree on the headline, I want to try making font size and line height smaller first. Probably doing that today.
Interesting take on the Feature/Pricing Links, do you have any resource/article that talks about that matter?
Thanks!
For the headline, it's not about the size on the screen, it's about the number of the words and the fact that it's a question.
For headlines, short and imperative sentences work best:
I'm not very familiar with your use case but it could be something in the lines of KNOW YOUR SUBSCRIBERS. It could be challenging to find a good and concise headline but I'm sure you can find something better.
Sure, you can check this Unbounce article on attention ratio.
Even though the navigation links don't go to a separate page, they still create visual clutter and make users skip portions of your landing page which isn't that long anyway. It doesn't make sense to jump to pricing section before understanding the product. It's already a pleasant journey scrolling down getting all the information progressively. You already have CTAs placed in relevant spots, maybe your prospect will decide to convert without looking at the prices, maybe they'll click the pricing and bounce, you never know. So, no need to have those links unless you have a very good reason.
When it comes to landing pages, simpler is better, it decreases the perceived difficulty and simpler pages will have higher conversion.
Good luck! ✨
@JoseMontielU I noticed you've removed the links. Good on you! ⭐️
Hi, looks great. Few comments that popped up in my head:
Is this for people having a subscribe button (email list) on the homepage? Does it integrate with a YouTube channel? How does it get the information?
Hope that helps...
Once I have time, I plan on checking it out, as I will need subscription management services in need future.
This looks really nice!
Two bits for you:
1 - I can't tell who this is for. I can GUESS that it's for livestreamers or Vloggers maybe but I can't find anything that says for sure. If I'm looking for it and don't see it, your audience isn't gonna try as hard. The second someone has a chance to think "is this for me?" you've already lost most of them. Solve this easily by calling them out by name.
2 - what's the primary pain point that your customers experience? Is it loss of subscribers, slowed growth, shitty platform tools, or something else? Your healdine says what they'll be able to do but it won't catch them NEARLY as well as a clearly identified pain/problem as the headline.
Main thing is to focus on your customer's pain/problem and try to describe it as well or better than they do. Nothing is more attention grabbing than feeling understood!
This is genius @alexhillman! Definitely I wasn't seeing it that way, but I guess that by calling out their current pain points I can hook them into the product by relating to them.
On your first point, this is something i've been struggling with I know content creators is too vague, but i fear of falling short or limiting myself by trying to specify platforms like YT or Twitch, etc.
How would you handle this? I've been thinking perhaps a section with a title like "Who's Castwatch for?" and display different platform logos. And hopefully this same approach will help me with Ad Relevance when targeting users of those platforms.
Pick a segment to focus on. Your chances of growing go way up when you speak directly to an audience, so if everything is equal it almost doesn't matter where you focus.
There is a tricky thing to get over when you're used to "seeing opportunities" and it's the power of focus, and REALLY knowing who your core audience is.
For example, Amy and I specifically designed the current version of 30x500 with audience expansion in mind. For a long time we ONLY accepted people with demonstrated "maker" skills, eg design, dev, writing, etc. People who could create products without outsourcing the implementation. It made our marketing language more resonant (no question who it was for) and it made it easy for us to come up with exercises that would make sense to everyone in class.
When we rebuilt 30x500 in 2015, we widened the marketing message to match. "More examples and exercises from different industries! Open to anyone, no matter your background."
Sales screeched to a halt. It just wasn't as resonant. It wasn't as good. And the people who came in from "alt" industries lacked the mindset to actually ship something. They just wanted to learn the levers to pull to make money. They were frustrated. We were frustrated for and with them.
There are LOTS of people who can and would benefit from what we teach. Especially if we didn't care about our student results so much. But we help more people by staying focused on who we are best suited to help.
Now we are back to focusing on our core audience. And we still attract others, even though we don't activly market to them.
Translating this back to you: are you closer to or more embedded in one of the segments? If so, use that advantage and pick that one.
Otherwise just pick. You can worry about additional landing pages or other segment personalization strategies later!
That's very helpful and insightful @alexhillman. I'll get cracking and focus on YouTubers then, it is easier to market to this segment plus it probably makes up most of the audience anyways.
And you're 100% right, I can always do different landing pages for other segments down the road.
Thank you very much!
🤘
Congrats. The site is very appealing to the eyes. I found a couple of issues, they may be nitpicks:
Your titles such as "One Link To Subscribe, Follow, Share." need to be capitalized properly. Use this https://capitalizemytitle.com/ (no affiliation)
The Free version button shouldn't say "Start 7-day trial" on it. Maybe something like "Get Started".
Also, I'm having trouble understanding if this tool is used for YouTube content creators or simply anyone who publishes content.
Other than that, it looks great, I wish you success!
Hey @swamy thanks for the feedback!
Will definitely check out the tool you shared, and great catch on the Free version CTA, will fix it right away.
I understand the confusion, it is actually one of the biggest problems I am having when trying to communicate the product, it is not only for YouTubers but it can really work with any platform that needs some sort of community management. I know content creators is too vague, but i fear of falling short or limiting myself by trying to specify platforms like YT or Twitch, etc.
Do you have any thoughts on this regard?
Looks fantastic!
Maybe it's because I'm not you demo, but I was hoping to see a more cut-and-dry explanation of what Castwatch is, where "Build relationships, grow your channel, create a community, increase your revenue." is.
For example, check out https://buffer.com/. I think that structure works nicely to set up a baseline of understanding for the rest of the page.
Hey @Ryan217, thanks for checking it out!
I think that's fair, buffer's approach is definitely very interesting, it seems like they do benefit as a headline and "how" as a subheading.
The one thing that also works for them is their graphic, the main one is very very good at explaining what it does, so they can save a few words and not become a big wall of text, which i fear on my side 🤔.
First, your website looks great! And from the shots, your product does as well!
I'm not a great copy writer, so take my suggestion with a big grain of salt ;-)
I read that copy writers often rewrite each sentence 5-10 times to come up with the most effective version.
From what I've read, I try to focus on the benefit, then explain how that's accomplished. So the "headline" of the sentence is what they'll get out of it, rather than what it does.
For example:
Have meaningful and more engaging conversations with your subscribers by keeping record of your past interactions and picking up right where you left off, this makes them more likely to support your channel.
I would try to do benefit -> feature instead. Such as:
"Gain more supporters for your channel by having more meaningful and engaging conversations and keeping record..."
Think of it as having 4-8 words in big text, followed by a description of how below that headline. Also, it might be good to try to shorten that sentence or split it up.
Hey @AndrewV,
I like it, will definitely give it a spin.
I've been thinking of perhaps a structure like this for the feature section:
[Feature Headline In Black]
[Benefit Subheading in Dark Gray]
[Description in a thin font]
Thanks!

Thank you for chiming in @nitinkarma and @stan121, for the time being a went ahead and hid the chat for the landing page, but it does make sense to display it after some action, will think through it.
That is what really bothered me as well. Instead of completely removing it, you can change intercom popup to show up after some time (10-15 secs) or when after some action from the visitor.
