I stopped asking the same hunters to upvote me twice in one week

I used to stack Aura++ and IndieHunt in the same calendar week because “more boards = more traffic.” On paper it worked. In practice I was pinging the same maker crowd twice. Micro-launchpad hunter overlap sits around ~30% in the rooms I watch. That’s enough that it starts to feel spammy even if each board still sends hundreds of visits on its own.

IndieHunt (https://indiehunt.io) runs Mon–Mon, 8:00am UTC, about seven days on the homepage. Aura++ is daily on the same clock. So if you drop both in the same week you’re not reaching two different worlds — you’re asking a chunk of the same hunters to care twice before the first ask cooled off.

What I do now is stagger. Warm up with an update on Aura++ (https://auraplusplus.com) on a quiet weekday. Let that breathe. Then pick one IndieHunt flagship week when the product actually looks different — better demo, clearer one-liner, something I’d be okay defending in comments for seven days straight. Daily plus weekly isn’t wrong. Same-week double-ask is.

Additive traffic is real. Goodwill burning is also real. I’d rather leave a few hundred visits on the table than have someone mute me because I showed up in their feed twice with the same pitch. The overlap isn’t a reason to pick only one forever. It’s a reason to not treat them like parallel ads on Monday morning.
