I was active on X twice a day for weeks. Most posts got 0 impressions. Here's what actually works.

I've been active on X for a few weeks. Posting consistently, twice a day, across multiple communities. Thought I was building momentum.

Checked the analytics this morning. Every post from the last 5 days: 0 impressions. Most of them literally zero.

Then I looked at what actually worked. A reply I left on a Karpathy thread in late March got 2,300 impressions. A post I wrote that month "and then you ship it anyway because it worked on your machine, the real fun starts 3 days later when you find out it stopped working and nobody told you" — got 5,200 impressions and 30 likes. My best ever. I wasn't even trying that day.

Here's why it's different. I have 76 followers. Without a base, the only way to get impressions is to be inside a conversation that's already moving. Replies to large accounts get seen because the thread is already being watched. Community posts land in feeds that maybe 50 people scroll. If nobody engages first, the algorithm ignores them.

I was posting into rooms where nobody looks up.

Changed the order: replies first, personal feed second, communities last. Same activity, different priority.

What got me is I was counting posts per day and feeling productive. That number had nothing to do with whether anyone was actually seeing the content.
