Hey, Indie Hackers 👋🏻. This is a quick post introducing the latest project from myself and @chuckgeorge. We’ve previously bootstrapped Knead, a bakery software business; now we’re turning our attention to a gap we’ve noticed in the food world over the last year.
While running Knead, Chuck and I met a lot of operators in the food and beverage industry. For me personally, coming from a software background, it was a great opportunity to learn about how hospitality businesses work. The deeper I got, the more I realized that knowledge in that industry is handed down through experience.
It’s hard to quickly get up to speed, and there’s a dearth of easily accessible information for operators of restaurants and bars. I relied on Chuck’s decade of experience, as well as Knead’s very knowledgable customers to learn what I needed to build useful software.
We think there’s an opportunity to change that, which is why we’re building the Business of Food and Beverage (BoFB). Our goal is to become the media of record for the food and beverage industry. We’re publishing news, analysis, and other in-depth content for people interested in how food and bev works.
You can currently find a free daily roundup of food and bev news. Paid subscribers can access a series of interviews with interesting operators in the industry. Aside from that, we’re working on multiple series about running restaurants & bars, covering topics from raising investment to hiring to food supply chains.
