I blamed my internet for months and even paid for a faster plan. Then I ran a speed test mid-freeze and watched a perfectly healthy line while the stream sat there spinning. Buffering is rarely your connection — it is the provider's servers under load. Here is how to tell in five minutes.

Almost every stall gets blamed on the internet connection, and most of the time that is wrong.
Video handles slowness far better than it handles unevenness. A line with a healthy average that drops for half a second every minute produces exactly the freezing people blame on the provider. The reverse is true too: a modest but steady connection streams beautifully.
The five-minute diagnosis: while the stream is stuck, open something else on another device. If it loads instantly, your line is fine and the problem is upstream. Then check the clock. A connection does not degrade at 8pm on a Saturday in hockey season. An oversold shared server does.
One thing: how many servers they run, and whether you can switch between them yourself inside the app.
A provider with several will move you off a congested route at peak time. A provider with one will explain that the problem is on your end. Ask before paying: how many servers, where are they, and can I switch. Hesitation on any of the three is your answer.
Everything else — channel counts, 4K badges, lifetime deals — is noise next to that.
Stalls at peak time: effectively none on the service I kept, across months of Saturday nights and a full playoff run.
What made the difference: multiple servers and being able to switch between them myself. Nothing else came close.
What made no difference: the channel count, the 4K badge on the sales page, and the headline price.
What I would do again: run the twenty-minute peak-time test before paying. What I would not: judge anything on a quiet weekday.
After 21 months of peak-time testing, the IPTV service I still pay for is Cutt. There is a free trial running now, no card required — put it through the twenty-minute Saturday test before you decide. Channels, pricing and setup guides are at https://cutt.ly/nyvkuwJL.
