I'm working on our web visitor tracking landing page and I'm struggling to decide who is actually benefitting the most from identifying web visitors - is it sales or marketing? Please leave your comment if you have any experience.
PS: we are a growing startup company with less than 100 paying clients, so I don't have enough stats to be able to draw conclusions yet.
Anyone interested in checking out the landing page I'm working on, here it is: https://outfunnel.com/web-visitor-tracking-for-sales-marketing/
It's a tough one just because it's about qualitative and not quantitative data. This is more of a sales platform, where sales teams can identify and prioritize contacting leads that are warmed up.
I'm guessing your direct competitors are companies like LeadFeeder and LeadForensics ( and so on ).
They are mostly for sales but they are partially used for Marketing ( although without proper historical and quantitative data you can't really do much ).
And it terms of creating accounts and implementing new platforms, Marketing is usually your best bet. Sales are too deep into prospecting and contacting potential clients to bother with actually implementing new tech.
Sales are much more hands-on regarding who actually lands on what page and what they are interested in so they can better customize their emails.
That being said I would say:
daily active users - Sales
monthly active users/decision makers - Marketing
Thanks a lot for your answer! The most interesting point of what you brought out, for me, was that sales are too deep into their work to bother with actually implementing new tech - I've never thought of this before.
