Launch boards and directories are not the same job

I used to think more launch sites equals more traffic. After ranking 70+ platforms on Best Launch Platforms, I stopped believing that.

A launch board has a clock. Product Hunt is basically one day. IndieHunt and EarlyHunt are a Monday week. Uneed is a quieter daily. You need to sit in the comments or you waste the slot. That is attention cost.

A directory has no clock that cares about you. AlternativeTo, TAAFT, SaaSHub, Crunchbase keep working if the page is indexed and the facts stay true. They almost never send a hunter crowd on day one. Paying someone to blast 50 submission sites is how you miss the five that matter.

On the BLP Index numbers I publish, a Product Hunt top-3 can mean roughly 5k to 15k visits. Outside the top 10 you often land under about 500. TAAFT sits near BLP 77 because evergreen and AI visibility stay useful. Aura++ is around BLP 62. Daily board, lasting page, Premium dofollow from roughly a DR 70 domain. I treat that as SEO plus a focused hunter room, not a Product Hunt replacement.

What I do now is boring but it works better. One board for the spotlight week. Then drip three to five directories on quiet days. Same product, different job for each channel. Unique descriptions. Same core facts so AI and people do not invent a third product.

If you want the board vs directory split written down with scores, I keep updating Best Launch Platforms.

Do you still burn a whole launch morning on directory forms, or did you split the calendars too?
