Launched a meme-based Product Hunt alternative 3 weeks ago. Here's what I didn't expect

I built MemeLaunch because I was sick of writing taglines nobody reads. The idea: instead of "AI-powered X for Y," you pitch your product with a meme. Community reacts, weekly leaderboard, gold badges for the winners.

Simple concept. Here's what actually happened once real founders started using it:

1. People are way funnier than I expected

I thought I'd have to seed the platform with templates and hope people copied them. Instead founders are making genuinely sharp, specific memes about their own products — "hiring another manager vs assigning tickets to my AI coworker" type stuff. The self-aware humor about building SaaS is doing more marketing than any tagline ever did.

2. The 🔥😂🤔 reactions tell you more than upvotes ever did

A regular upvote just says "cool." Splitting reactions into fire/funny/thinking-emoji gives founders actual signal — is this landing as impressive, funny, or "wait I need this"? Turns out that's way more useful feedback than a vanity number.

3. Solo founders are outperforming funded startups

Exactly the bet I made going in — a scrappy meme from someone building alone in their room is beating polished launches from teams with actual marketing budgets. Attention doesn't care about your seed round.

Where it's at:

18/100 free launch spots claimed so far. After that it moves to a points system. Still very early, still fixing things as they break, still figuring out what "winning the week" should actually reward long-term.

If you've got something to launch — even something rough — I'd love for you to be one of the first 100.

The reaction split is an interesting signal beyond a simple upvote. Curious whether founders are actually changing how they present their products based on the type of reaction they receive.
