Hi! Maybe you can shed some light here. I've been working on a startup for 7 years in a niche that won't grow, and the startup revenue has been flat for a couple of years. That's why I'm starting again in another niche/industry.
"Sadly," I have around 21K connections, and 95% of them are from that niche I'm trying to move away from. What would you do in my place? Should I start following your playbook with that same account, start over with a new account, or what? I don't like to create a new one because I have some personal connections too on LinkedIn, but I think it's a waste.
It's funny, but I've never, ever, ever posted anything or commented on anything at all. My LinkedIn account is like a gold mine in a niche I don't want to be anymore.
Hi Fabricio,
It's not a big problem (especially if you don't post anything).
You can start following my playbook with that same account. I had a client with a background in sales who pivoted to cybersecurity.
If you decide to buy my playbook, you can use the code LAUNCH to get it with 35% off.
The issue I'm afraid is that my posts won't be relevant to more 19,500 people. They won't interact at all and I don't know how "smart" is LinkedIn's algorithm to promote my post if 95% or 99% of my "old" connections don't interact at all. Your case was on sales, that's not an industry. That's a job or sector. My old industry is nutrition. All my connections are dietitians, nutritionists, etc. Now I need to aim to a whole new industry. Do you really think it's going to work?
Nobody knows. LinkedIn doesn't work well now for everyone :)
Delete old connections (not relevant), add new people. With time, it should be better.
If you work on this every day, it can work. But are you sure that LinkedIn is a very good channel for your new industry? If yes - worth trying.
