Hey everybody,
I have an idea for a site where the general idea is for people to be able to save information. In order to monetize it, assuming it ends up being something people are willing to pay for, I have a few ideas but was wondering what opinions or other ideas you might have. Here's what I have so far:
Create a free tier where users can only create a limited number of records, or have limited functionality, or both.
No free tier, just a trial period with full functionality and then you pay.
For paid tier, just have one price, or create multiple tiers depending on what the value would be of the other tiers.
Completely free and make revenue on ads if it gets enough traffic. Personally, I hate ads and would rather pay a fair price for something rather than get hit with ads when trying to use it.
I think it would be helpful if you were more specific on the product you are building. Every SaaS app I can think of lets users save data. If you want to modify a SaaS you need to provide value to people, how is your app going to provide value in your market/niche? If you give details on your product/niche we could be more helpful :)
Agreed! I think people are afraid of ideas getting stolen or something, and it ends up giving them feedback that is barely relevant to them.
Based on the info provided, every IndieHacker and SaaS product is a competitor ;-)
Like Colin said, be more specific if you want advice that might be useful. You can look up SaaS Pricing Models if you want generic advice :)
Even better, you can talk to your potential users to see how much value they get out of it, then you'll know if there's a desire for it, and maybe how much it's worth to them.
