Hey Folks,
This is my first indie hack, which I have been committed to for couple of months.
Let me know, what you think of the launch page - https://gigahex.com
A bit about Gigahex
It's a desktop app for mac ( as of now) that allows Big Data devs to setup local environment consisting of different tools like Apache Spark, Kafka, Hive etc. in few clicks and helps them to reduce considerable amount of time in testing the functionality of their code.
In short, the dev just needs to create environment using Gigahex and start testing their code against that environment.
I'm not really the target market but the page looks great. One thing though is to set the image size in your header because for me the content shifts down abruptly once the image has loaded (as the browser has to wait to know the image size).
Aah! Right. Thanks for pointing it out @seanw .
The landing page is not bad. I've had to use those tools you mention.
What I don't understand from the copy is how this works technically?
I think you should separate the "benefits" from the"features". Running a local spark isn't ideal right spark is intended to run across dozens of machines so I'm confused.
Thanks @Tony.
Technically, it uses docker for creating Spark/Hadoop Clusters, in local. Local Spark/Hadoop cluster is good enough to work on prototype and testing the feature, before actually testing on a bigger cluster with a larger dataset.
I'll work on the text to make this more clear.
I like this! Copy and layout is crisp! And the hero image perfectly conveys your what your app accomplishes.
Suggested Improvements
Great job over all!
Thanks @Harlem .
I agree with all of your feedback.
Hey Shad, congrats on the launch.
If I were you, I'd try and find a forum where a lot of 'big data devs' hang out and ask them. The feedback you'll get from 'normal' IHers probably won't be so useful for your product.
Good luck!
Thanks @louisswiss . 100% agree with you. Sharing on Big data forums is something that I am already doing in parallel, but I wanted a general feedback about the design layout of the launch page.
