ProductHunt for Content?! Tell me your opinion about the idea
As simple as the title describes! I want to build producthunt for content to primarily help me as an SEO practitioner find the best content in the niche I'm working on based on how the internet thinks about it. What do you think?!
Actually I don't quite understand the idea of "ProductHunt for Content". PH helps maker with product launches, and let users find relevant product (sort of). I assume your idea let producer find audience for their article/video? Isn't that what Medium/Youtube is doing? You want to focus on a particular niche?
Let's imagine you have posted a post on Medium making a visual guide to CSS Grid. After creating it you want to share it right?!
you don't leave it on Medium like that. So, the app comes here to help you share the post with the audience who are interested in this specific piece of content and that's what's similar to producthunt.
In SEO we outreach a lot of people after creating a piece of content to get featured and get backlinks. Using an app like that would save time and money for both the creator of the content and the guy who is searching for good content to link to.
The idea here is so simple,
1- enable the audience to share the content they believe is awesome >> 2- let them determine what is a good piece of content and what is bad through leveraging social features >>> 3- (more features to creators and the audience if the idea is validated).
So what kind of "magic" do you use to get my article to more targeted audience? As compared to sharing article on reddit/HN/other niche forum/social media, etc.
No man, No "magic" at the moment 👋 . All I know is that there MAYBE a place for such a product.
Getting an article to a wide audience is everyone's dream, so if you got a solution for this it would be great.
Websites like Medium/Reddit/HN does allow/encourage voting and sharing, and building a community. It would be interesting if you can analyze what is the weakness of current platform and how you plan to do it better.
It would be better to craft a simple rails app and get it to users to use. I believe the idea is not complete yet and validation is another story. I'll try to get something as fast as possible to get the idea out of my mind.

What I think is different from Buzzsumo is that the product is going to be based on how this specific audience loves the content. there is a lot of good content on the web that is not shareable by nature so you don't find it?! The app I want to build should be categorized by niches and people active in these niches should use this specific category to share what they found (or did).
Also, I'm thinking of it as a platform to showcase your best content if you want an easier process for outreach.
Sure can't beat buzzsumo in what they're doing but I see the app doing things differently and also for broader audience that just SEOs

Don't see a usecase for myself atm. Could you maybe describe in greater detail? I'm a coder and I like music.. Can I use your app?
