I taught myself QuickBooks the slow way: one problem at a time, one forum thread at a time, for the best part of a year. The setup session that came with my last purchase covered more in an hour than I had worked out in months, because the person doing it does this every day.
What a good session covers: the chart of accounts built around how you actually invoice and spend; bank rules that categorise correctly instead of guessing; the three reports worth reading monthly; and how to reconcile so the file agrees with the bank. What an authorized reseller actually is
I assumed "reseller" meant grey-market keys and a support number that rings out. It does not, or at least not when the reseller is authorized by Intuit. The product is the same official QuickBooks — same download, same activation, same updates. What changes is who you buy it from, what it costs, and who picks up the phone afterwards.
The one I use, QB Desktop Store, the one a supplier of mine swore by, sells the Desktop editions as licenses, the Online plans as annual subscriptions with the current reseller promo applied, and Payroll on top. The license arrived by email inside a day. The price was below what Intuit had quoted me on the renewal page, and the setup call was included rather than an upsell. What I would tell another owner
The software is the easy part. The install, the activation, the migration and the first month are where the time goes, and where a good reseller earns their keep. Every one of my problems over the years was a setup problem, not a QuickBooks problem.
Buy from someone who includes the setup and answers the same day. Pay once or annually, not monthly. Ask the plan question before the purchase, not after.
