Same comment, three different threads, same day

Spent today replying across a handful of threads here. Noticed something I hadn't paid close attention to before: the same account left a near-identical comment — some variation of "nice work, what's been the biggest challenge" — on three completely unrelated posts, each time as one of the first replies, each time with zero specific engagement with what the post actually said.

Not calling out the account by name, but it's a useful pattern to notice as a habit: a generic-but-friendly-sounding comment is easy to mistake for real engagement, especially early on a post when there's nothing to compare it against yet. It only became obvious as a pattern because I happened to read three of that account's comments in the same afternoon.

Makes me wonder how much of what reads as "early traction" on a post — first few comments, quick replies — is actually a handful of accounts doing this at scale, versus real people reading and responding. Not sure there's a clean way to tell the difference from inside a single thread. You'd need to see the account's history across multiple posts, the way I happened to today, and most people replying to a post have no reason to go check that.

Nothing actionable here yet, just flagging it because it's exactly the kind of thing that's invisible one thread at a time and obvious the moment you're looking at three of them together.
