In my understanding we are past the dot-com already, especially SEO wise. But why not buy both?
And do what with both? Redirect?
Can't say if it would help with the SEO. When I buy a domain with a new TLD, I try to buy the dot-com domain also so if someone mistakenly writes it, they get redirected to the correct domain.
