Shopify speed work is not the same problem as a brochure homepage. Themes render product grids, variant pickers, and cart drawers; apps inject reviews, chat, and personalisation on top of Liquid you may not fully control. Core Web Vitals still measure what shoppers feel: LCP when the product image appears, INP when size or colour responds, CLS when a banner shoves Add to cart mid-tap.
We wrote a Shopify-specific playbook: which templates to fix first, what usually breaks each vital on Online Store 2.0 themes, how apps undo theme work, and how scheduled lab tests plus CrUX fit once fixes ship. PDP and cart usually deserve more attention than a polished homepage average.
Sitewide scores hide the pages that carry revenue. Prioritise product detail pages, collections with filters, cart and drawer paths, then home and campaign landers.
PDP first: gallery LCP, variant INP, review widgets for CLS.
Audit apps quarterly; disable suspects on a duplicate theme and re-run PageSpeed Insights on PDP and collection URLs.
Set separate mobile and desktop budgets with tighter bands on PDP and cart than on policy pages.
Release gate: lab runs on homepage, top collection, top three PDPs, and cart, with an owner and three follow-up actions.
