Show IH: NicheTester Editor Beta
I’ve just got my app NicheTester into the condition where it works end-to-end, so I thought I’d put it up here to get some feedback.
It’s a tool to quickly test product ideas by quickly generating product pages for them and seeing how they convert. The idea is to make it easy by taking away choices that don’t matter for validation, and forcing you to focus on value proposition and copywriting.
It’s early days and there’s a lot of obvious things that could improve - the UI is still very rough, there’s only one template, it doesn’t work on mobile and you’re forced to do some things manually that could be automated.
Mostly though I’m interested in learning about what would make it compelling even if it is rough - right now I’m thinking the whole process should be shorter and more focussed around guiding you through building a brand and a business, rather than directly building a sales page for testing.

of course, it needs some cleaning up (UX/UI, the user flow,etc) but overall - great idea and solid execution.
I read a comment saying "I had to little time and jumped ship" - that's not your target customer, remember that. Listen to all feedback, but opinions are like a$$holes, we all got em.
You customer is someone, with little time, but not so little they expect the application to do everything for them.

Also a 'Save and Publish Later' function would work quite well, considering some people may drop off when they realise how much time it may take to fill out. :)

The pricing and about are there because in my (admittedly pretty anecdotal) research, it seemed like single-page landing pages tended to get blocked from running Google Ads, but it's definitely an option I should provide :). I definitely want to make it a bit more flexible, including what the call to actions do.
Everything is saved in real time so you can always come back - I guess I've been working on this long enough that I forgot that's not obvious! :|. Will need to do some UX work!
Oh awesome! When further updates have rolled out maybe send out a follow-up email to those who abandoned the process and get them finishing. :)
Great idea! I'm surprised at the parallels between this and my own project Landen. You are a doing a lot of things right already, however I had some trouble with the signup, as others mentioned as well.
Ah yeah, yours is much slicker though :).
Perhaps but you already get the idea across which is great, and your UX flow is also very nice. I recommend you check out this article for some quick UI tips.
I like it, I may use it on my next project. Signup with email wasn't working for me, had to login with Google.
Ah jeez - what went wrong exactly?
Was blank when I clicked sign in with email before. I checked back and looks like it's working properly and showing the email field now. Not sure why it didn't work before. Thanks.

I think a landing page with examples, screenshots and a more detailed description of what you are getting would help a lot!
Oh and one more small tip, if you set the background of the body to white instead of gray and remove the box-shadow of the div that holds the content it looks 10 times cleaner IMO, just some simple feedback, hope it helps!

@alexgill The idea sounds good. The UI could be improved, but you lose me at the sign-up step.
I would happily give it a whirl if I didn't have to leave my details. Might be the case for many people, hence the validation data might be skewed/less.
But in general a solid idea, if the execution follows suit 👍
Thanks Julian - yeah I’m seeing a lot of drop off at the register step but not sure what the best way to get around it is - might have to make the signup page a bit smoother and show more value beforehand!
Yea, if you could open it up a bit more, even without a sign up in order to see it (since it's still beta), let people like it and ask for a "Stay in touch when we launch" signup at the end. Value first, then the ask.
Looks cool (if perhaps still early days) - can see why it would be useful. Look forward to seeing where you take this :)

Hey, I like the idea, especially the simplicity part. It might be hard to decide what choices not to include into the builder, but if done correctly then it's a great tool to test ideas as quickly as possible.
Few things:
I want to use it to test many different ideas of mine, not just one. I keep all my ideas in backlog, but doing research for each is tedious task. Using your tool I can build a landing page for everything during the weekend and decide what has potential based on user feedback.
Possibly custom javascript / css? GA is nice, but adding something like drift to create instant conversation loop or hotjar can be beneficial too.

It would have been nice to see a few screenshot of what it looks like before signing up.
Small issue, when I reach the sign up page, it breaks the back button. There is no way to get out.
Also since I'm on a mobile device, the 3 dotted or hamburger menu is at the extreme edge of the screen. I can't click on it.

I think the idea sounds really interesting, but I had limited time now and quickly jumped ship. There was just to much text and little information.
I would have liked to see examples and some bullet points of why this is a good idea for me to start with, for example
