Side project => Startup?
At what point can a product be considered to be gaining enough traction as to warrant the transition from a mere side project to a more serious, potentially startup?
Just some general pointers from person experience etc.?

I'd wait until it reaches about 1.5x your current salary.
But yeah, migrating to full-time also means more time to focus on that one project too, not need to be too careful if you believe in that project.
Probably when you can confidently leave your current main job/project for this one.
I saw people leaving once their side project was earning equivalent of their salary, but in most cases that wad too early. You should be confident in your new ship;)
I feel like everyone just makes it up anyway. As well as giving themselves title of "CTO" of their create-react-app.
