Simple At-Home Projects?
What are some really simple at-home projects that you can get started quickly to make some extra cash? I'm a full-time guy with two kids, so I don't have a ton of time, but it would be nice to have a little extra income. I am interested to hear about what some people have done in their limited spare time.

Someone mentioned reducing expenses rather than increasing income. That is certainly true, and we try. I think the point of my question was more along the lines of "I have these skills that I know people are interested in - what's the easiest way to monetize those skills on the side". I've considered taking up some elance/upwork projects, but I'm wondering if folks found it easy to break into that kind of thing without having already been a freelancer for a while.

Judging by your IH profile, you're a pretty technical guy. And judging by your post, your main goal is to make some extra cash in just a few hours a week. Based on that information, here are some suggestions (ranked in the order I'd try them). They might seem a bit counterintuitive, but bear with me...
If it's cash available at End of Month you're worried about (and it may not be), my first suggestion would be to use those few hours each week to work out how you can comfortably reduce spending, instead of increasing income.
Spend your few hours each week learning a new technology, working on open-source, polishing your resume and/or networking/applying to better-paid jobs. Most of my developer friends don't do nearly enough self-marketing .
Contracting/consulting. Difficult to beat $/hour, especially short term.
Dropshipping/ start a niche consumer ecommerce store. Takes very little time, can work very well when you cut through the bullshit.

This is a great tip! I often times can't believe how many of my younger co-workers go out to eat every day at lunch and then turn around and complain about not having money.
totally agree with you guys. I'm not in any sort of budget crisis (although sometimes the credit card bill gives me pause at the end of the month). I just kind of want the equivalent of mowing someone's lawn or other things like that but more technical :)

There are lots of possible ideas, but only you can pick the right one for you.
Scroll through the episodes of the IH Podcast and the Passive Income podcast by Pat Flynn and listen to ideas that sound cool to you, I'm sure that hearing success stories will inspire you to find what's your "perfect project" to work on 😀
There are lots of work-at-home types of businesses, and that's a great source to listen them talking about how they started.
I like podcasts because I can listen while driving or taking a walk.

If you literally want something quick that requires like zero time to plan and execute:
These are things that you can literally just go do without thinking about it, and better yet, you can get your kids involved and teach them about responsibility and business. People are often times too proud to service some of the most basic needs that people have.
I promise you that if you knocked on my door today and offered any of those things to me, I'd immediately say yes. It's an easy sell. So if you were my neighbor, that's $60 in your pocket today that you didn't have yesterday.
I'm not sure of what sort of projects, but it might be nice to do something that your kids are interested in as well. That might be something tangible/physical, rather than a digital project for example.
Start marketing someone else's services.
Example - i can code great web app , desktop app at 15 $ per hour.
If you get me work, handle the client communications - you can charge 3$ per hour as comission.
Thats sureshot, easy money - you must be bit stressed from your day job so pick easy, tangential work.
Just sell anything online on affiliate basis.
If you know someone selling great muffins - sell muffins for birthdays, anniversary, thanksgiving and so on.
Then just pass the order, do the deliveries.
Review works , handle client communications, sell on different channels.
Many good people making good stuff dont hang out on instagram, youtube - you do this for them.

Put up a site with content around "present ideas for {very narrow specific niche} " and research 20-50 cool products from amazon for this niche. Affiliate links. Traffic. Done.
The tricky part is the traffic as you might spend the next couple of months building backlinks and posting to social media groups.
Niches like dog owners or gym rats might already be crowded. Pick a smaller one in the beginning.
But If it is a topic you enjoy anyway it might be a fit.
