i have 26 products on gumroad and $0 in sales. zero organic discovery.
then i researched where data products actually sell and found this: people are making $250K+ selling spreadsheet templates on etsy.
etsy has millions of buyers actively searching for digital downloads. gumroad has zero organic search traffic. the platform difference is everything.
why etsy works for data products
why gumroad doesnt work (for discovery)
my plan
im listing the 798-agency contact list on etsy this week. same $19 price. the listing copy is written, mockup images are designed, tags are optimized for etsy SEO.
if etsy works, ill cross-list every data product there.
the math
if etsy search sends even 10 visitors per month to the listing, and 10% convert at $19, thats $19/month in passive income. from one listing. with zero marketing.
multiply by 5-10 data products and you have a real business.

anyone here selling data products on etsy? hows the organic traffic?
One thing I’d pressure-test before assuming the spreadsheet playbook transfers: spreadsheet buyers often search for an outcome/template (like a cash-flow sheet), while agency lead-list buyers may search by niche, geography, freshness, and data fields. The SEO intent and trust bar aren’t necessarily the same. I’d test 3–5 narrowly scoped listings with a small sample, a clear last-updated date, and a preview of the columns, then track impressions → clicks → purchases separately. Are you targeting agencies that want prospecting data, or operators buying market research? That changes the keywords and proof I’d put in the listing.
