... so I've been reading through the reactions to v6 for the past hour and I need to say something wicked😤
The labels finally got their hands on the model. and the community is feeling it immediately.
One guy spent 120,000 credits on Suno, hand-picked maybe 30-35 tracks he actually considered release-ready, was building a real virtual band project around v4.5 and v5.5... and now says v6 feels boxed in, formulaic, unable to step outside its own lane. he's boycotting every label that pushed for this. said it plainly, it was fun while it lasted.
Someone else summed it up in one line. impressed for five minutes, then realized every original generation sounds the same now. the only thing it does well is covers.
Another comment nailed why. creativity's been sliding since v5, and almost every standout melody in their library came from 4.5. even EDM and club mixes are coming out flat and undanceable now, which is wild for a genre whose entire job is to make you move. Which they had removed in order to forecly use v6.
And look, I get the label side of this. Suno needed licensing deals to survive long term, unlicensed training data was never going to hold up forever, and getting UMG, Sony, Warner and BMG on board was probably the only path to actually staying alive as a company.
But "surviving" and "staying good" aren't the same thing. and right now the community is watching the second one get traded away for the first.
