The Slow Death of the Coder (and How I Accidentally Proved It With My SaaS)
I’ll start from afar — with the product — and then tell you why I think the coding profession is slowly, quietly dying.
A few months ago, while building one of my Chrome extensions, I stumbled into something surprising:
the affiliate-program niche for Chrome extensions is completely empty.
Sure, maybe some people want to pay $39/month for a “super user-friendly” affiliate solution like Promokit just to get one working affiliate flow (promo codes). But realistically? Probably not.

But this isn’t the interesting part.
The interesting part starts here:
ChatGPT, Replit, and the Moment I Realized Coding Is… Dying
I’ve built a lot of stuff with ChatGPT already — with only basic JS/HTML/CSS/Python.
But the cycle became exhausting:
write a prompt
fix one file
update another file
repeat 200 times over 10 days
lose sanity
At some point I wrote a note to myself in Trello:
“Would be nice to have an AI that codes the whole app WITHOUT all this ctrl-C ctrl-V hell.”
ChatGPT tried to stay noble and insisted:
“No such thing exists. You must code manually. I am the cornerstone of modern civilization.”
So I went to Google.
First I found Bolt — extremely expensive and becomes paid very fast (no warm-up, no first date, just straight to checkout).
Then I found Replit.
And THAT’S when things escalated.
After two days of relaxed back-and-forth messages (pro tip: clean your Replit messages through ChatGPT — they understand each other like lovers who started dating in the early 2000s)…
after $65 spent, a $10 discount,
and a free .com domain…
…I walked away with a fully working SaaS.
Live. Testable. Functional. Built basically by AI.
It took me less time than it usually takes to refactor a single messy JavaScript file.
So is the coder dead?
Replit didn’t just accelerate development.
It changed the skill curve. It flattened it.
The new superpower is not coding.
It’s knowing what to build.
