We built 62 browser-based image tools — here’s what we learned
We’ve been working on Toolscase Image Tools, and one thing we noticed early on is how fragmented simple image tasks can be.
Converting an image might require one website, compression another, resizing another, and removing metadata yet another.
So we decided to bring these common workflows together into one browser-based image toolkit.
The current version includes 62 image tools covering areas such as:
Image conversion
Compression and optimization
Resizing and cropping
Image editing
Bulk image processing
Metadata and EXIF tools
Watermarking
Background removal
Developer-focused image utilities
One of the challenges has been keeping the experience simple while adding more tools. A large toolkit becomes less useful if users have to spend more time finding the right tool than actually completing their task.
We’ve therefore been thinking a lot about organization, discoverability, and how different tools can work together as part of a larger image workflow.
There’s still plenty we want to improve as the toolkit grows.
