I'll soon be launching a website to a medium sized community, but it's my first attempt at putting something real out there into the world, so my question is...
Which analytics tools do you recommend for launching a new product?
The analytics tool market is insanely saturated. Is analytics such a hard problem to solve that so many competitors think they can do it best? I hope I can get a solid recommendation so I can learn right when my product meets its users. I'm not assuming my product will be an overnight success but I think this question will help other product launchers (maybe?).
I set up Google Analytics for the Indie Hackers launch, and I've been happy with it. In the past I've also been happy with Mixpanel. And I keep hearing good things about Segment. It's easy to spend hours and hours fiddling with data collection/analysis tools, but I think it's wise to take it easy in the beginning and spend most of your time elsewhere!
Go with Google Analytics and Mixpanel if your app really needs to understand user behaviour, if you're just making a simple site, go with Google Analytics.
Go with Google Analytics for now. Then when you start feeling that it is not cutting it, look for something else.
