Your Product May Not Need More Hype

Your Product May Not Need More Hype

It may simply need to reach the right people.

Thousands of products launch every day, but visibility doesn’t always mean relevance.

LaunchNest LN focuses on helping people discover new products based on what they’re interested in, while giving founders another opportunity to be found.

Less noise. More discovery.

This is such a contrarian but important take. So many bootstrapped founders burn months chasing press and Product Hunt launches when their real issue is retention or positioning, not awareness. Genuine product-market fit eventually finds its own audience. The hype treadmill is a distraction for most early-stage teams.

Congrats on shipping. The “right people” point is the key: a small, specific audience with a clear job-to-be-done usually beats broad launch reach. I’d test a few discovery channels and track qualified clicks/replies, not just impressions.

Matching on interest is not the same as matching on need, and that gap is where most directory traffic dies. Somebody browsing a discovery feed is in a curious mood rather than a buying one, while the products that actually convert from a listing are the ones solving a problem the visitor already had that morning. Interest tells you what a person likes to read about, which is a much weaker predictor than what they were already searching for. The test worth running against your own data is whether an interest matched click converts better than a plain category browse. If it does not, the personalization is making the feed pleasant rather than making it work.
