December 14, 2018 Our First Job Posting

It's happening! We are closing in on our sales goal for this two week period (the founders meet every two weeks to review commitments and set new ones, just like sprints!). If we hit that goal, and it looks like we will, then we will be posting our first job. We will be looking for a software engineer to help with route optimization using a combination of constraint solvers and machine learning.

We are super excited about this milestone, and have just completed all of our paperwork with the state of Colorado to prepare to run our first payroll!

December 7, 2018 6 Month Update

6 months ago, my wife, a close friend, and I decided we were going to start a company. At the time, we had no idea what we were going to do really, just a list of potential ideas to test out and validate. After a few attempts, we got traction on an idea that solved an acute pain point we had all suffered from: we hated doing laundry, and every service we had tried was absolutely awful, and super expensive.

As a result, we launched FairMeadow (https://fairmeadow.app), a laundry service that was designed from the ground up to be customer-centric, and is continuing to evolve daily based on things we are learning about our customers and prospects.

After 6 months, here is where we are at:

  • $14k invested in the business
  • $8k MRR
  • $21k total revenue
  • 10.6% compound weekly revenue growth rate since launch

HOWEVER

  • Our landing page is awful
  • Our metrics are a mess and don't help us optimize our advertising
  • Our referral program is extremely inefficient and needs to be redesigned
  • We desperately need to make our first hire and our revenue isn't high enough to support it

Based on feedback from the community, we are going to start addressing some of the points above. Our goal is to get to $10k in MRR by the end of this year, so fixing these issues is critical.

June 7, 2018 Launch!

After an initial Facebook post attracted enough attention to warrant launching a product, we are happy to announce the launch of https://fairmeadow.app!

We are a doorstep laundry service that is designed with families in mind. Our goal is to make laundry a chore of the past, giving back overworked families hours of time to spend with each other each week.

Hi Javier, I was reading your FairMeadow updates and noticed you mentioned challenges around metrics and optimization as you scaled. Curious, today, what part of the customer journey is hardest to understand? Acquisition, conversion, or retention?

About

My wife and I have two children and hated doing laundry every week, and the business models that most laundry services have didn't fit our needs. We figured that many others had the same problem and set out to solve it.
