April 24, 2026 🚀 NexClip AI is now on the Mac App Store — 14 years in the making

Today I shipped NexClip AI on the Mac App Store! 🎉

10 days ago, I launched the Paddle (direct download) version on Product Hunt. Today the Mac App Store version is also live — completing the launch.

This is the product I've been trying to build since 2012. 14 years of attempts, failures, and pivots.

The 14-year journey:

🎬 2012: Started editing video professionally and kept hitting the same wall — no prosumer media asset management tools existed.

🛠️ 2012-2018: Tried to build the solution myself. Six years on ffmpeg + PostgreSQL. Hit the limits of what one person could build alone.

🏢 2019: Founded Cyberseeds to carry the work forward.

💔 2024: Shipped MediaQue v1. Wrong direction. Few users. Pulled it later.

Early 2025: Started using Claude Code. The velocity of what one person could build shifted fundamentally. Work that would've taken 5 more years took 12 months.

📱 April 14, 2026: Paddle version + Product Hunt launch.

🚀 April 24, 2026 (today): Mac App Store version is live.

This is my 4th commercial product in the last 18 months:

- CYBMediaPlayer (January 2026)

- CookLens AI (January 2026)

- NexClip AI direct (April 14, 2026)

- NexClip AI on Mac App Store (April 24, 2026)

Tech stack:

- Swift (SwiftUI) + Rust (7 crates, 70+ FFI functions via UniFFI)

- ElevenLabs Scribe v2 for transcription

- Vibrato for native Japanese NLP (not machine-translated)

- Patent pending (US Provisional filed Dec 29, 2025)

- Native Mac, not Electron

Distribution strategy:

- Mac App Store: Apple takes 30%/15%, but trusted + discovery

- Direct from nexclipai.com (Paddle as Merchant of Record): ~5% fees

- Credit packs available via Apple IAP or Paddle billing

Pricing:

- Free: 45 credits/month (no credit card required)

- Creator: $12.50/mo annual, 450 credits

- Pro: $20.83/mo annual, 1,200 credits

- 1 credit = 1 minute of video processed

What I'd love to ask fellow indie hackers:

1. Anyone else running Mac App Store + direct download parallel distribution? Curious about conversion patterns.

2. How did you get first 100 users for a macOS-native app?

3. Japanese market — I have Japanese localization (Vibrato) but minimal Japan-specific marketing. Any IH with Japan expansion experience?

4. Long-form video creators: if you edit podcasts, lectures, interviews, or corporate content, I'd love your honest feedback.

Happy to answer any questions about the 14-year journey, Swift + Rust architecture, or the Apple Silicon + AI tooling convergence that finally made this possible.

Let's go! 🚀

April 14, 2026 🚀 NexClip AI is live on Product Hunt today!

I'm a solo founder with 25 years in video production. Built NexClip AI because every AI clipping tool decides what's "interesting" — but nobody asks what's relevant. NexClip extracts topics from your video/audio, you pick what matters, edit subclips, export with subtitles or to your NLE. macOS native. Swift + Rust. Patent pending. Would love feedback from fellow indie hackers. https://www.producthunt.com/products/nexclip-ai
