August 31, 2026 From zero coding experience to a Product Hunt launch in 7 days. We are live! πŸš€

Launch Day! πŸš€ We are officially live on Product Hunt today. Thank you to everyone in this community who gave me feedback on the pricing and business model over the last few days. I'd love your honest thoughts on the final page! https://www.producthunt.com/products/tech-trends-data-toolkit

I like the idea of treating launch as a process rather than a single day. I made the opposite mistake with my Windows apps: I focused heavily on getting the product and Store listing ready, then realized distribution needed its own plan. Now I’m trying to build some community presence before doing a bigger launch instead of showing up only when I need traffic. Curious which pre-launch activity actually brought you the highest-intent users?

Hi @xingxingstudio, thanks for the thoughtful reply! To be completely transparent, I haven't actually launched a paid product yet, so I don't have "users" in the traditional sense. I am currently finishing up a strict 14-day paper-trading trial to prove the underlying data edge before I even think about distribution or pricing. However, to answer your question in the spirit of it: the pre-launch activity that has brought the highest-intent *strategic partnerships* has been the "build-in-public" journey right here on Indie Hackers, combined with direct, honest outreach to veteran founders. By sharing the raw methodology and the brutal honesty of the test (including the days we find zero edge), it actually attracted a veteran founder who is now doing an independent evaluation on my dataset. I completely agree with your realization about distribution. Building a community presence now means that when the data validates the product, I'll have a warm audience of founders and traders who already trust the methodology, rather than shouting into the void on launch day. Good luck with the Windows apps!
August 25, 2026 My web scraper caught a $7B acquisition rumor before the press. Now I need my first customer!

Just launched my first 5 monetized APIs as a complete beginner! πŸš€

Over the past week I built a real-time data scraping suite on Apify:

πŸ“° Hacker News Trend Tracker

πŸ’» GitHub Trending Tracker

πŸš€ Product Hunt Daily Tracker

πŸ€– ArXiv AI Research Tracker

πŸ“Š SEC EDGAR Filing Monitor

Fun fact: my HN tracker flagged the $7B Stripe/OpenRouter acquisition rumor minutes after it went live.

Each tool costs $0.10 per 10 items to run, and the suite is listed on Glama.ai β€” so AI agents can discover and use the tools autonomously via MCP.

Currently at $0 MRR. My goal: my first paying customer this month. Any advice from API/data founders on landing that first customer would mean the world! πŸ™

The acquisition-rumor example is a strong demonstration of why real-time monitoring can matter. The harder part seems to be turning an interesting detection into something a customer depends on regularly, rather than just a useful one-off alert.

Thanks so much for this insight! Apologies for the delayed reply β€” it’s been a crazy week preparing for my Product Hunt launch this Monday. I completely agree with you. The $7B rumor is a great "proof moment," but the real business has to be recurring usefulness, not just one lucky detection. My current thinking is to position the toolkit around repeatable monitoring workflows, for example: - recruiters tracking fast-growing GitHub repos/skills - founders watching Product Hunt and Hacker News for market signals - investors monitoring SEC filings and emerging AI research - AI agents needing fresh live data instead of stale search results The next challenge is exactly what you said: turning these from one-off scrapers into dependable monitoring tools that people or agents check regularly. I really appreciate this feedback. If you were testing this, which recurring use case would you focus on first?

That’s an interesting direction. I’d be happy to continue the conversation beyond the thread β€” would you be open to sharing the best email to reach you on?
