April 15, 2019 Discounts

I created a the second app which is the first one with an extra feature. I also set a higher price to it and in the description of the file I mention a Promo Code of 20% discount. The interesting fact is that only 30% of the purchases use this discount code. By using the new strategy, the revenues increased from 1.2k/month to 2.1k/month.

March 14, 2019 Visibility

The Fitbit Store is a bit unusual. It is very simple, in fact it is so simple that the only way to browse through the apps is to rely on few hardcoded categories, no other filters excepting a classic search. Practically, my app was very visible as long as it was in the Newest category. A new version of the app didn't have any effect on its visibility. So, now instead improving the actual version by adding new functionalities, I prefer to create a new app in order to have it promoted in the Newest section. A secondary advantage is that I can set a higher price for the new app, so the user can choose from 2 options.

March 14, 2019 Review nightmare

The product consists in 3 applications. One for Fitbit smartwatch, an Android app and an iOS app.

The Fitbit app was rejected 2 times during a week, no problem.

The Android app was live in only few hours.

The iOS app was a absolutely crazy journey, during 40 days I got 15 rejections. I changed the name of the app 5 times, I didn't only change the structure and the content of the app, but also the main intent (now it is mainly a game). The teams that reviewed the app were from Los Angeles, Bogota and Shanghai. Practically I had to deal with some very rigid rules that were created for stand alone iOS apps in order to get the approval for an app that is in fact part of a wider solution, combining 2 apps (iOS and Fitbit).

March 14, 2019 Great opportunity

Recently I won a smartwatch as result of a dev contest organized by Fitbit. After that, wanting to get more familiar with the Fitbit products and community, I took a look at their forum and I noted that there was a 4-year old feature request that wasn't yet solved, the possibility to force ringing your phone by using a Fitbit smartwatch. 20 hours later, the development of a solution was pretty much completed and the product was successfully running on my Android phone and Ionic watch.

In a Fitbit forum, I noted that there was a 4-year old feature request that wasn't yet solved, the possibility to force ringing your phone by using a Fitbit smartwatch (Ionic or Versa). Well, challenge accepted! :)
