"I took the one less traveled by..."

Hello

This is an educational journey. For you and for me. I will share what I am learning and ask questions along the way.

This is an unknown path. I am discovering the struggle... of web development. Other than some poking around a bit in the late 2000s, and turning my attention to mobile (iOS development) and Bitcoin (old-timer researcher, investor), I have no web skills.

Zero. So here we go.

My new project is beginners.academy

First things first

The website is bad. The commit history is essentially me learning html and css in real time, pinging Github's servers with no mercy. I still cannot disable highlighting when the text is selected on mobile (what we in the world of show business call **irony**).

The content of the project however is solid.

Since the price of Bitcoin has gone parabolic, there has been little development in the education of new people. Everyone from your co-worker to your mom is investing. They are also arguing, checking their phones, itching, and giving social media their two cents.

Everyone is talking prices instead of projects. No one knows how Merkle Trees work and why that's important to know before investing in crypto. Who can keep up with let alone tolerate the confusion?

Conclusion

I am building something.

I am starting an online Academy for new people who want to learn more about why Bitcoin matters and what it's really all about (as well as why I believe it is important for millennials in particular to start investing).

There's a lot of noise and a lot of press. I have currently compiled a list of resources for our Library and a blog on our Society page to help you cut through it.

You can also follow us on Twitter for updates over the next few weeks!

I am inviting you to join me on this adventurous quest in learning something new. Web development is... different. You need to know at least 3 languages to be decent. Long way home from Swift. Lots of packages. Lot of configuration. Lots of...

And React is whole other animal. Fortunately, so far so good on my React courses :)

The Bitcoin project is near and dear to my heart, and I hope you find what I share with you as valuable. Feel free to reach out anytime on Indie Hackers or on Twitter

From the Road,

David
